Manuscript writing workshop, October 16-27, 2017

The College of Medicine through the African Centre of Excellence in Public Health and Herbal Medicine (ACEPHEM) in collaboration with Mzuzu University and Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) will be conducting a Manuscript writing workshop. The lead facilitator of the workshop is Professor Ademola Ajuwon from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. The workshop will run for two weeks from 16 October to 27 October 2017, 8am to 12 noon.

Aim: The workshop is aimed at equipping the participants with knowledge and skills of writing and publishing an in a peer review journal.

Course Outline:
1.Tips for writing the Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion sections
2.Selection of journals
3.Ethical issues in scientific publication
4.Peer review process
5.Joy and stress of publishing journal article

Workshop Methodology
Mainly interactive combining lectures, group discussions and individual consultation. Certificate of attendance will be provided to those who complete the workshop. Slides of all presentations will be provided on CD for all participants.

Who should apply: Young faculty, graduates of the MPH program, resident doctors, PhD students. Priority will be given to those who already have data and are interested to publish their findings. Those who already have data will be taken through the step by step process of manuscript development ready for submission to a journal.

Workshop fee: USD100 per participant. Course fees cover course materials and tea. The ACEPHEM has limited scholarships to cover the workshop fees of participants. These will be awarded on merit.
